On a global basis some 2500 locations operate in compliance to JIG Joint Inspection Group Standards, so roughly 40% of the world’s aviation fuel is handled according to JIG. The JIG Standards for Aviation Fuel Quality Control and Operating Procedures include internationally agreed procedures for handling aviation fuel at airports and upstream aviation fuel facilities. The Standards cover fuel sampling and testing, procedures for the storage and delivery of aviation fuel to the aircraft as well as design features of depot, hydrant system and fuelling vehicles.

The latest JIG Issue 12 of the volumes JIG 1 “Aviation Fuel Quality Control and Operating Standards for Into-Plane Fuelling Services” and JIG 2 “Aviation Fuel Quality Control and Operating Standards for Airport Depots” replaces the JIG Issue 11 from January 2012.
